# 1099s, W-2s and the forms that go with them

Each January your clients need their 1099s and W-2s out on time. Build them from the books, or from a file. Check them, send the copies and e-file them in one pass.

## The whole 1099 family
Prepare Forms 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-R and the rest of the family. Each form is filled from the payments in the client's books. Or bring in a spreadsheet of payments for a client whose books are kept somewhere else. Payments below the limit for each form are left off for you. Your staff reviews each form before it goes out.

## W-2s and W-3s
Prepare W-2s from the wages in the client's books, or from a file of wages. The W-3 that adds them up is built for you. Each W-2 is checked against the totals before it goes out. Workers get their copy in their own portal, or by mail. The forms are e-filed with the Social Security Administration and with the states that ask for them.

## Form 1096 and the rest of the set
Each set of forms gets its Form 1096 summary when one is needed. Corrected forms carry the right marks and go out the same way. Forms about foreign owners and accounts are there when a client needs them. Every form your firm sends for a client is kept in one list. So you can find last year's forms in seconds.

## Tax IDs checked before anything is sent
Collect Form W-9 from each person your client pays. The request goes out by email, and the person signs online. Names and tax ID numbers are matched with the IRS before the forms are filed. A mismatch is flagged, so you can fix it first. That keeps penalty notices from coming back months later. Each W-9 is kept with the person's record.

## A copy for every person
Each person gets their copy in a secure portal, with their consent. People who do not want a portal copy get one by mail. You see who has opened their copy and who has not. A corrected form goes out the same way, with a note that it takes the place of the first one. Each copy is kept, so a lost form is easy to send again.

## E-filed with the IRS and the states
The forms are e-filed with the IRS. The states that ask for their own copy get it too. Each filing's answer comes back into the client's record. A rejected form shows the reason, so you can fix it and send it again. The due date for each form and each state is on your calendar. Late or missing forms stand out.

## Many clients at once
January is busy. Prepare, check and send forms for many clients in one batch. Each client's status shows on one board: waiting on data, ready to review, sent and filed. Your staff picks up where the last person left off. Each form is one line on your bill to the client, so the invoice builds itself.
